2017 marks the 40th anniversary for SMKA Electric. It’s been an amazing journey so far; as Al Naboodah Group Enterprises ’s electrical trading arm we’ve matured into an international one-stop-shop for electrical and lighting needs.
The company was formally introduced to the market in 1977 and, let’s face it, the world has drastically changed since then. We’ve watched landscapes transform as entire cities sprung out of the ground. Rising land costs and growing urban populations have driven global infrastructure to new heights, bringing the need for ever more innovative lighting and electrical solutions, with SMKA Electric at the vanguard.
As technology evolved, SMKA Electric has been able to offer continuously more-sophisticated solutions to our customers. When the World Wide Web arrived in 1991 it brought with it a great threat for physical businesses, but SMKA saw opportunity where many saw vulnerability, successfully turning bricks into clicks and taking the business to the digital space. Since then we’ve welcomed wireless technologies, adapted to the age of mobile devices, and sustained a leading role in energy efficiency – all the while offering the very best solutions on the market.

Currently, our suite of electrical and lighting products ranges from wiring devices to cable management systems, lightning protection systems to low voltage switchgears, home automation and more. We’ve seen our award-winning solutions have been used in projects of all sizes, by everyone from individual homeowners to household names (see the case studies).
One thing that has never changed is our drive to provide customers with high-quality, affordable and creative products, supporting energy-efficient lighting solutions and low-carbon emissions. This has always been at the heart of SMKA Electric’s work.
Looking to the future
Working at the forefront of the electrical landscape has allowed SMKA Electric to recognise increasing demand for energy-efficient solutions and green technologies for both commercial and personal properties. To ensure that our customers are provided with the very best, we are continuously exploring new ways to satisfy this growing requirement. One way we plan to achieve this is by extending our portfolio of products to include solar solutions, aiming to further reduce society’s dependency on traditional sources of energy.
